Really. The conversion runs in JavaScript on your machine. You can pull the network cable out after the page loads and it still works — we test that on purpose.
Bold and italic carry across SRT, VTT and ASS by default; turn off “Keep text styling” to strip them. Going to plain text drops all of it, because plain text has nowhere to put it.
Times are held as fractional seconds and written back at each format's own precision — milliseconds for SRT, VTT and SBV, centiseconds for ASS, which is all the ASS spec allows. A round trip through SRT or VTT is byte-identical.
Not yet — one file at a time. The design has folder conversion in it and it is on the list, but shipping it half-done would be worse than saying so.
No. The whole point of this tool is that nothing reaches a server, so there is no server to call. If you want captions generated from a video, that is the paid product.
